Melyn Mon Recipe Butter Wins 2 Star Great Taste Award
Anglesey-based recipe butter manufacturer Melyn Mon have recently been awarded a 2 star Great Taste Award for their "Shiitake Mushroom" flavoured butter.
Melyn Mon are a small scale producer, based on the beautiful and magical Island of Anglesey, North Wales.
They manufacture a range of eight flavour-infused "recipe butters", using only locally sourced, fresh ingredients; for example, their base butter comes from a farmers Co-Operative based in Caernarfon, where all the cows are pasture-fed. Their smoked garlic is supplied by Cwt Mwg Smokery, literally a 5 minute drive away and the Shiitake Mushrooms are supplied by a grower in Nantmor, Snowdonia.
The butters are all hand-blended and wrapped, which gives the product that real "artisan" feel, and are supplied to retailers such as fine foods stores, farm shops, delicatessens, butchers and fishmongers. The company has also recently struck a deal with a national distributor, Harlech Food Service, which they hope will give their product a wider audience in the restaurant/catering sector.
The company, which has only been trading for just over a year, is also hugely proud to have recently been awarded a 2 star Great Taste Award by the Guild of Fine Foods, for its "Shiitake Mushroom" butter.
