Mehiel Foundation Revives The Christmas Spirit For Tens of Ugandan Families Through "Jajja's Smile" Project
Mehiel Foundation, a small charitable organisation based in Oxfordshire, UK was founded in 2010 and has undertaken 26 projects in 11 countries around the world. Its primary aim is to tackle the underlying causes of poverty and social injustice, in order to deliver lasting change in the lives of poor and vulnerable people.
Through the "Jajja's Smile" project which literally translates to "grandmother's smile", Mehiel Foundation provides bags of groceries and household goods to vulnerable families in the Wakiso district of rural Uganda.
A large scale screening has been conducted to identify the most vulnerable families, prime consideration being given to elderly ladies lacking a regular income.
"This is Mehiel Foundation's newest initiative in the Christmas Giveaway endeavour which supplies hundreds of underprivileged families in the UK, Ghana and Uganda with much-needed supplies" said Lawrence Patrick, Mehiel Foundation's Treasurer.
Sulaiman Mayanja, the Executive Director of CELEDI, the Ugandan local partner had this to say about the project: "The pandemic Covid 19 saps the Christmas spirit for many families! We intend to bring happiness and joy by providing Christmas goodies to vulnerable grannies in Bulenga and Bulaga Zomea."
