MedEquip4Kids funds new critical care monitor for children’s ambulance service

Children’s charity MedEquip4Kids has provided an Intellivue MP5 Monitor for the North West and North Wales Paediatric Transport Service (NWTS), thanks to a generous donation by Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation. The Manchester based office of the nationwide law firm spent the last year raising a record-breaking £16,000 for the charity.

NWTS provide 24/7 stabilisation and transfer of critically ill children and babies from any district general hospital in the North West or North Wales region to regional paediatric intensive care units at Alder Hey or Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The Intellivue MP5 Monitor is an essential part of the equipment trolley used by clinical specialists to deliver full intensive care treatment on the journey between hospitals and allows all vital signs to be observed continuously on the screen.

Sarah Santo, Lead Nurse at NWTS, says: “Thank you on behalf of the NWTS service for the fantastic donation of a critical care monitor. The monitor will be used throughout the North West and North Wales to safely transfer critically sick children.”

MedEquip4Kids improves the health of children and babies in the north of England by providing equipment not available from limited NHS resources. Based in Manchester, MedEquip4Kids was founded in 1985, and since then the charity has raised over £20 million for equipment and resources to improve children’s health.

The Manchester office of Irwin Mitchell supported MedEquip4Kids as their Charity of the Year. The resulting donation also stretched far enough to fund Magic Medic visits from Louby Lou at Stepping Hill Hospital and equipment for the Neo Natal Unit at University Hospital of South Manchester.
