MAVERICK MILLIONAIRE WRITES SUCCESS INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR HIS OWN DAUGHTER…AND THEN DECIDES TO LET THE WORLD READ IT TOO!
News provided by streetwise publications on Monday 4th Nov 2013
John Harrison, author of seven books on business success and self improvement, now turns his attention to helping young people make the most of their life opportunities. His new book, ‘Why Didn’t They Tell Me? 99 Shameless Success Secrets They Don’t Teach You At Eton, Harrow Or Even The Classiest Comprehensive’ is published on 15th November 2013, and aims to counter the myths and mystique surrounding life success – much of it created and perpetuated by the education system. It’s written for anyone who is either still in education or who is working hard to get established in a career.
While far from ‘anti- formal education’, Harrison believes that the system in the UK is primarily concerned with preparing kids to become useful and compliant members of society, rather than to be the best they can possibly be - for themselves. He believes that if they look after their own interests first, society and the economy will naturally benefit too. Why Didn’t They Tell Me? is all about practical advice to achieve this end, honed from experience. Theory doesn’t get much of a look in.
The book came about as the author watched his own daughter growing up and thought, “What do I really want her to know now? What do I wish someone had told me at that age, which would have made my life wealthier, healthier, happier and more fulfilled.” It was from those questions that he started to write down the answers. He quickly realised there was a a lot more to say than he first thought, and they were things which all young people could benefit from.
John Harrison’s previous books have been compared with the work of such diverse luminaries as Napoleon Hill, Matthew Parris and Jeremy Clarkson. They have been praised for both the inspiration they’ve given and their humour. Over the past 20 years. Harrison has built up a multi-million pound business empire from scratch, with interests in publishing, marketing, specialist printing, property, training, film and TV. He has also mentored hundreds of people of all ages to business and financial success, many of whom have surpassed his achievements. He has mixed feelings about that.
