Major Bitcoin Exposition Coming to Downtown Raleigh

Expo to Draw Bitcoin Experts from Around the Nation, World

The Carolinas first Bitcoin Expo will be kicked off in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 15th and 16th, 2014. The weekend event is being billed as ‘Cryptolina’, and will be held at the Raleigh Convention Center. The goal of the expo is to raise awareness and serve as a Bitcoin gateway to hundreds of new interested businesses, investors, students and enthusiasts. Cryptolina follows successful Bitcoin conferences held in cities throughout the world, including Miami, Washington, San Francisco, New York City, and Amsterdam.

More than 500 new faces of the emerging Bitcoin community are expected to attend, network and discuss this growing industry behind the digital currency. There will also be a concerted effort to draw in the hundreds of tech-savvy students from North and South Carolina universities, including Duke, UNC- Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University.

“There’s no question that Bitcoin interest is growing across the United States and world,” said Faruk Okcetin, an event organizer and entrepreneur. “We chose Downtown Raleigh to host Cryptolina in order to capitalize on the flourishing startup scene and the exponential growth it has seen in recent years. We believe the community will be well served in being a part of this informative event.”

Frequently cited as a “New Silicon Valley” of the East Coast, the Research Triangle region is a natural fit for the expo due to the thousands of high-tech jobs and many industry leading firms who call it home.

Current issues and events pertaining to Bitcoin technology, startups, venture capital investment and angel investment will be discussed during multiple panels. In addition to a bitcoin-based business exhibition, there are plans to host a hackathon and nearly two dozen speakers, including:
