Maestri Students Perform in aid of Headway Dorset
Brockenhurst college students, Matthew Bradshaw, Thomas Heppell, Daniel Lawford and Rhea Gavin, collectively known as Maestri, have come to the rescue of Dorset based charity, Headway Dorset this month, after their planned February fundraiser was postponed due to a bereavement.
Headway Dorset Fundraiser, Nivek Kerley says "I had a Valentine's themed event in mind, but unfortunately the event had to be postponed due to a bereavement. Headway Dorset is totally self funded, and we ideally need to run an event monthly to bring funds in and raise awareness. I was discussing this with Matthew, who has both volunteered for Headway Dorset in the past and who's bands have worked with me in the past 2 years at charitable events. He suggested that Maestri could maybe make their next event, which they need to do as part of their college course, a fundraiser for Headway Dorset. So we immediately started planning between us, the band and myself, and in the space of 2 days we had an event booked and advertised!"
Andy Bryant, the general manager of The Barrington Theatre in Ferndown, kindly volunteered use of the theatre for the event, which will be held on Monday February 29th.
This will be Maestri's debut headline performance, with local support artists. The Theatre Bar at the Barrington will be open for the evening and Headway Dorset will run a raffle for the charity, between sets. Ticket's are priced at just £6 and can be purchased from www.barringtoncentre.co.uk or 01202894858.
Said Rhea, "It's nice to do this for such an honest charity that support people in tragic circumstances. It can happen to anyone at any time, and it'll be nice to know we can help people whilst we get to do what we love". Daniel added "This is an exciting experience for us, which will be fun for all. We want this to be something that everyone will enjoy and remember!"
