London premiere of multi-award winning film Lad: A Yorkshire Story

BAFTA, London, Saturday June 20th at 6:30pm – Since opening at the Chicago Film festival, Lad has scooped 21 international film awards in the USA, Germany, Canada and the UK and represents the latest Yorkshire film to wow international audiences since The Full Monty and Calendar Girls.

The film sees newcomer (Bretten Lord) taken under the wing of Yorkshire Dales park ranger (Alan Gibson) after the death of his father is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story directed by ex-Harry Potter crew member Dan Hartley.

To celebrate the release Rogue Runner Films has teamed up with leading children's bereavement charity, Child Bereavement UK, to host a screening at BAFTA followed by a filmmaking workshop with the charity's youth group.

'I'm honoured that Lad has been chosen to represent the work of Child Bereavement UK and to be given the opportunity to lead a workshop, where I hope the redemptive spirit of the film will engage and inspire.' says Director Dan Hartley.

Jackie Grant, Youth Worker at Child Bereavement UK, said "Lad is a moving and ultimately positive film that covers many of the issues faced by young people who have been bereaved of someone important to them, capturing the themes of mentorship and resilience in a very insightful way. Our Young People's Advisory Groups, who meet regularly to develop resources, including films, to help others, are very much looking forward to meeting the Director and discussing the film with him."
