Local Housebuilder Brings £24million Investment To Local Area

A housebuilder headquartered in Watford has released research this week revealing it brought £24million of investment to the local area in the last financial year.

The figures, which form part of the company's socio-economic footprint, reveal Barratt Homes North Thames built 470 homes between July 2014 and June 2015 and the housebuilder has calculated the effect this new housing has had on the local economy.

While the company itself contributed more than £17million to councils, improving infrastructure and providing affordable housing for local people, they also calculated the local economy benefited from £6.7million of additional spending in shops and services from the residents of new homes they have built. This spending alone supported more than one hundred retail and service-related jobs.

Ian Sadler, Managing Director of Barratt Homes North Thames, said “While people are often aware of the thousands of jobs we create and support directly in the areas where we build new homes, this research highlights the investment we also bring to local communities and the economy.

Barratt Homes has been awarded the maximum five star official rating from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for the sixth year in a row. The news was announced after more than 20,000 new home buyers across the country took part in this year's HBF customer satisfaction survey.
