Kojo to host the Hope for Children Gala Ball!

News provided by Hope for Children on Thursday 29th Sep 2016

Hope for Children are delighted to announce that the UK comic Kojo will be joining the international children’s charity as an ambassador and hosting their Gala Ball which takes place on Thursday 10th November.

Kojo, star of MTV Base, Nick Cannon's Wild N Out, Capital Xtra, feature movies The Knot, It's A Lot & The Weekend, has a new one-man show, "I GOT PROBLEMS" which is taking place at the IndigO2 in November. By becoming an ambassador Kojo is hoping to help the charity raise funds for their work around the world, starting with their annual Gala Ball. He will also be focusing on helping Hope for Children raise awareness of their work in Ghana, where Kojo started his education.

The Hope Ball returns to London on Thursday 10th November 2016. The black tie affair will take place at The Royal Horseguards Hotel at One Whitehall Place, overlooking the stunningly-illuminated Embankment, London Eye and River Thames. The majestic five-star flagship hotel of the Guoman Hotel Group is one with a secret past. It was once the home and office to the first ‘Chief’ of Secret Intelligence Service, Sir Mansfield Cumming, and was used during the war as the offices of MI5 and MI6. It’s going to be an evening filled with entertainment, money-can't-buy prizes, celebration, and dancing will follow for what is certain to a night to remember!

Hope for Children is an international charity that passionately believes every child has the right to a happy, healthy and positive childhood. Almost half of the world's children are vulnerable and living in poverty. We are changing this by making a safe and fulfilling childhood a reality for more of the world’s children by improving their access to education and healthcare, empowering their families to support themselves whilst developing their confidence and self-esteem.

Kojo said “In my ‘I GOT PROBLEMS’ show I talk a lot about my childhood in Ghana and what that meant for me. So I can really identify with Hope for Children’s belief in positive childhood experiences which can set children up for life. I’m really looking forward to helping the charity in whatever way I can, starting with their Gala Ball in November.”

Murielle Maupoint, Chief Executive of Hope for Children, is delighted to have Kojo on board. “KOJO is a wonderful comedian who is going to make a huge difference by hosting our Gala Ball, our key annual fundraising event. His upbringing and experiences also give him a natural empathy and understanding of our work which is fantastic.”
