Kentown Support Recognised for Outstanding Collaboration in Children's Community Palliative Care

News provided by Kentown Support on Tuesday 23rd Jun 2026

Kentown Support has been nominated as a finalist in the Palliative & End of Life Care Awards in The Partnership Working Across Health & Social Care Award category.

The Kentown Programme, a pioneering initiative transforming community children’s palliative care across the UK, has been recognised for its exceptional collaborative approach to supporting seriously ill children and their families in the community. This Award recognises teams that demonstrate exceptional multi-level collaboration across the health and social care sectors, creating lasting and sustainable impact beyond individual organisations

Kentown Support works to improve the provision of community palliative care for children across the UK. At the heart of the programme is a deep commitment to fairness and kindness, ensuring that every child, whatever their background, diagnosis, or where they live, can receive high-quality, sensitive palliative care at home.

The programme brings together the expertise of partners from across the statutory and voluntary sectors, working with existing teams, and creating new ones. By working closely this way with service providers and commissioners, supporting professional development and making community children’s palliative care more accessible, the model is demonstrating how integrated community palliative care can work in practice.

With a successful programme running across Lancashire and South Cumbria, and a second programme launching across Greater Manchester, Kentown Support is working hard to fill gaps in children’s palliative care provision and to create a united team around the child and family.

Dr Helena Dunbar, CEO of Kentown Support said: “I am thrilled. Being nominated as a finalist is an opportunity for us at Kentown Support to thank our partners and our team members on the ground who are delivering the support needed to so many children and families. As we continue to bring organisations together, we will expand our Kentown Support offer into other areas, adding new components helping us to continue to meet the needs of seriously ill children and their families where and when they need it most.”

The team at Kentown Support will find out if they have won at the gala ceremony in London’s Hilton Bankside on 2 July.
