iPad survives wild ride firmly lodged in car’s bumper

This extraordinary incident shows why getting a protective case for your iPad really is a sensible choice to make
A 23 year old Georgia woman drove around her hometown for nearly an hour with an iPad wedged into the bumper of her car after the device had fallen of the roof of another car, hit the road and bounced into her car’s bumper.
Alexa Crisa was driving on a residential street in Marietta, Georgia, when another vehicle pulled out in front of her. Noticing something fly off the roof she braked, preparing herself for impact, but didn’t feel any kind of collision. It was only when she returned home that her father pointed out the iPad stuck in the bumper of her car.
My dad came in and said, ‘Why is there an iPad in your car? I got scared and said, ‘Did someone throw something in the sunroof of my car,’ and he said, “No there’s and iPad in the bumper of your car.”
Crisa took a photo of the iPad and posted it online knowing the story would be too unreal for anybody she told to believe. Crisa’s father, Nick, removed the iPad from her car using a hammer and discovered that the device was still working; only suffering a broken screen during its ordeal.
Crisa remarked, “It was so remarkable that it was thrown from the roof of a car at 40mph and still looked like that, it looked like nothing had happened to the back of the iPad.”The device was returned to its owner using the help of a find my iPhone app that they had used, which displayed his number on the screen allowing Crisa and her father to get in touch with the man. The owner received a new tablet through his warranty pan and offered to cover the cost of a new bumper for the car.
Marketing Manager of The Snugg, Les Yates commented, “This extraordinary incident shows why getting a protective case for your iPad really is a sensible choice to make. Although the majority of accidents don’t involve moving vehicles a case will protect your device from the vast majority of drops, scratches and spills. The owner was lucky that the iPad was sturdy enough to survive both the impact with the road and the second impact with the car. We certainly wouldn’t recommend leaving your tablet on the roof of your car whilst you search for your keys!”
