Interserve Receives Sword of Honour Award from British Safety Council
Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has been awarded the prestigious 'Sword of Honour' award from the British Safety Council for excellent health and safety management within the industrial services sector.
The British Safety Council has presented just 50 Sword of Honour awards worldwide this year to companies showcasing best practice in health and safety across their business.
During last year's British Safety Council Five Star Occupational Health and Safety Audit, Interserve received the maximum five star rating within its industrial services operations, making it eligible to apply for this accolade. The team presented to an independent panel of experts, demonstrating their health and safety operations over and above that expected to achieve the five star rating, to secure their place amongst the best of the best in health and safety excellence.
Guy Bruce, managing director – industrial at Interserve, said:
"Providing safe environments for colleagues, customers and visitors across all of our sites is of the utmost importance to us. This can't be done without strong and robust safety management systems, and this accolade shows that this approach is at the heart of our business.
"The Sword of Honour is classed as the pinnacle of achievement in the world of health and safety management, and we feel that this award is testament to the hard work of our team, and our ongoing commitment and dedication to building and enhancing our safety culture throughout the business."
Alex Botha, chief executive of the British Safety Council, said:
"The Sword of Honour is a highly prestigious accolade that recognises the huge commitment and effort of the winning organisations and their employees to achieving and sustaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental practice."
This award follows Interserve's five star British Safety Council rating in 2013, which made Interserve the only company in the industrial market segment to have achieved this rating across its entire suite of industrial services.
