How Flexi IT increased its productivity during the Covid-19 pandemic

The leading Ukrainian WordPress web development company Flexi IT increased the productivity of its team by 40% during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, we developed around 15 WordPress websites from scratch and 7 projects we have on ongoing support.

Flexi IT always strived to create a positive atmosphere within its employees. Since its early days the company realized that team spirit and well-being of its personnel is the essential feature to ensure successful web development.

Admittedly, 2020 with its raging Covid-19 pandemic has drastically changed the way of working of Flexi IT just as any other  company. Home office made things complicated and Flexi IT`s employees had difficult times working from home, in isolation from each other. Therefore, the company decided to return to office work but adapt the operations to the new realities and to develop employees` engagement and endorse team spirit.

In order to improve the corporate atmosphere and productivity, Flexi IT used a wide array of methods. Some of them were implemented long before the pandemic and were revamped during the corona crisis, while others were recently introduced.

This way, Flexi IT organized a corporate Flexi IT taxi so that the team members could be picked up right near their homes and driven straight to work in the company of their colleagues. After a productive working day, Flexi IT taxi brings the team home and gives yet another opportunity to socialize and get to know each other better.

The firm also introduced Karma bot for Slack, a chat to post the words of gratitude to the team members who achieved amazing development or analytic outcomes. While Karma gives bonuses which can be exchanged for some amazing perks like a massage certificate or pizza delivery, the more important bonus is that it creates a friendly atmosphere where each colleague is valued and appreciated. 

Besides, Flexi IT improved the company-branded presents for the personnel and started distributing them more frequently. One of the first presents were notepads with outlines customized to the firm`s workflow and company values. This facilitates team operations and allows everyone to be on the same page.

Furthermore, Flexi IT launched an internal school for the staff where Tech Leads share their knowledge and experience twice a week. This is an excellent occasion to grow and develop.

As Flexi IT noticed the decline of social activities due to the lockdowns, it introduced its own company events and parties. The company even invited a photographer to refresh the team`s pictures. 

Last but not least, Flexi IT invested in the ergonomic furniture so that each team member can comfortably work from the brand-new convenient office chair.

As a result of the steps taken, Flexi IT achieved significant growth in team productivity. Nowadays, the staff members come to work with pleasure and smiles. They form a closely-knit team of highly skilled developers, project managers, and data analysts who are ready to support each other and share their experience. These employees also managed to turn a boring office routine during depressive (post) Covid reality into a bright time spent with their soulmates or teammates in Counter Strike or table tennis. Each of the team members at Flexi IT works efficiently and relaxes brightly and those two processes complement and endorse each other. A typical day of the Flexi IT employee is not about the tedious nine-to-five time but about fruitful cooperation with the colleagues who love what they do.
