Hope Spring to work with ICT Security Specialist on Data Security

Hope Spring Water, the Hereford-based charity best known for its clean water projects across Africa, has announced a new partnership with small business ICT security specialist, Temi Odurinde, to strengthen its digital security systems.

The move comes in the wake of the recently published IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report 2025, which sheds light on the rising cost and sophistication of cyber incidents globally and in the UK.

Following its release, ICT security specialist Temi Odurinde published a detailed UK-focused cost of data breach analysis, translating the report’s findings into practical advice for smaller organisations and charities. His analysis warns that even organisations with modest resources are increasingly in the sights of cybercriminals, facing threats such as phishing, ransomware, and data theft.

“Charities like ours are not immune to cybercrime,” said a spokesperson for Hope Spring Water. “We handle sensitive information from donors, volunteers, and partner organisations, so it’s critical that our systems are secure. Having expert guidance will help us ensure we meet the highest standards.”

Mr. Odurinde, who also volunteers with the charity, is providing his services on a pro bono basis. His work will include reviewing data protection processes, strengthening password policies, and implementing phishing awareness training for staff and volunteers.

“As cybercriminals increasingly target the non-profit sector, prevention and education are key,” Mr. Odurinde explained. “My goal is to help Hope Spring stay ahead of threats while continuing its vital mission.”

This partnership is part of a broader push within the charity sector to recognise cyber security as a core organisational priority. The UK Government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025 notes a gradual improvement in cyber resilience among UK businesses and charities. However, it also warns that the evolving nature of cyber threats, particularly those involving AI-powered attacks and highly targeted phishing, means that ongoing vigilance and adaptation are essential.

Other industry research, including the Northdoor UK Data Breach Cost Report 2025 and the CyberArk Threat Landscape Report 2025, echoes these findings. Together, they point to a need for stronger security measures, regular staff training, and strategic planning to prevent costly breaches.

By proactively working with a cyber security expert, Hope Spring Water aims not only to safeguard its own operations but also to serve as an example for other charities and small organisations.
