Hope Spring Announces Clean Water Training Partnership

Hereford water poverty alleviation charity, Hope Spring, announced a partnership with odurinde.com an online training website on Monday the 17th of February 2025. The partnership will see the online training website run water purification and hygiene training workshops, in ten locations across Nigeria. The initiative is part of a new wave of projects Hope Spring planned to complete this year, to mark the 10th anniversary of the founding of the organization.

The charity works with communities in dire need of clean water, mostly in West Africa. Since it was founded, it has constructed boreholes and wells in several communities across West Africa, while focusing mainly on working in Nigeria. The new partnership Hope Spring is forging with Odurinde.com, will see the charity give some attention to training local water and sanitation champions in their community.

The local water champion will then train others in the community on the importance of clean water and how to purify water collected from local water sources such as rivers and lakes. This training will solve a lot of water hardship and reduce diseases contracted through drinking contaminated water.

Commenting on the partnership and what it hope to achieve, Tomi Onigbinde a Hope Spring volunteer said “we will still build well and borehole for deserving communities, however training communities on how to purify water that may be available near them, is a much more cost effective way to help communities have a sustainable access to clean water”. He added that “not just sustainable, but much cheaper and less problematic than, say constructing a borehole”.

A short list of potential beneficiary communities have been identified, Hope Spring and its training partner organisation are due to roll out the training project at the start of May, 2025. Hope Spring funds its projects from donations from the general public, as well as from selling belated birthday eCards and other digital goods from its online greetings cards website.
