Haag-Streit UK appointed sole UK distributors of Meridian & Valon range

Harlow, UK – 23^rd March 2020 - Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard ophthalmic and optometry equipment, is pleased to announce it has been awarded sole distributorship for the Meridian and Valon range of lasers in the UK.

Meridian, and subsidiary company Valon, have been offering innovative laser systems for eye care professionals for over 35 years. A range of lasers is available to meet each surgeon’s needs, from YAG to photocoagulators, with the ability to couple some products to make complete treatment systems.

The range of Meridian products includes; the MICRORUPTOR 6 Nd YAg laser, the Merilas 532a green laser and the Merilas 532/577nm shortpulse lasers.

The MICRORUPTOR 6 is the professional 1064nm laser for posterior capsulotomy, pupillary membranectomy and iridotomy. With a triple-fixed or rotating aiming beam, it offers precise and safe focusing for optimal treatment. Its ergonomic design allows full doctor and patient access.

The compact Merilas 532α is a reliable and precise photocoagulator for use in all retinal photocoagulation procedures, iridotomy and laser trabeculoplasty. This professional frequency-doubled, solid-state, green laser photocoagulator can be used with a slit lamp adapter, ophthalmoscope or endoprobe.

The Merilas 532nm shortpulse is a powerful green laser system and the Merilas 577nm shortpulse is a powerful yellow laser system, both are designed to treat retinal disorders. Meridian’s shortpulse technology delivers a tissue-sparing solution that allows the tissue to cool between laser pulses. This minimises or prevents tissue damage, reducing treatment risks. Patient comfort and safety is improved as no tissue damage or scars occur.

The Valon range includes; the Valon TT 532 and 577nm and the Valon 5G 532nm. The Valon TT offers a safe, efficient PRP treatment in six minutes or less. Its galvanometric scanners provide the most advanced technology available, delivering patterns of shots faster than a single spot with conventional lasers, and can be coupled with the high-quality optics of a Haag-Streit BQ 900 slit lamp.

The Valon 5G photocoagulator is compact in size, easy to move and designed to fit the needs and budget of all kinds of clinics. The system maintains all of Valon’s technical features and offers the superior quality of a Haag Streit BQ 900 slit lamp.
