Grotto Outré - A Very Different Type Of Christmas

Hidden amongst the winter festivites and Christmas cheer, in East London this November a new venue shall appear - and this time it's just for the grown ups! Grotto Outré will open its mysterious gateway on Wednesday 28th November until Sunday 21st December at the Red Gallery, Shoreditch to deliver a very different type of Christmas. The journey begins in a professor's laboratory and continues through an icy kingdom where the stairway to Outré awaits . This mystical pathway will lead intrepid explorers into the outlandish realm where the fun really begins.

Each evening Grotto Outre hosts a Christmas cracker of a night, kicking off with Festive Film Nights on Mondays, Bingo Bonanza on Tuesdays, Quizmas Wednesdays and on Throwback Thursdays the reigns are handed over to you as you control the playlist, find the magical track and banish Scrooges ghost's forever to win an Outre prize! Friday & Saturday expect outrageous club nights with top UK DJs including Grotto resident, Mrs Claws (Caroline Banx) and when the jingle bells chime, be ready to Swap-a-HoHo – stay close to that festive washing line as an item of clothing must be exchanged!

On Sunday, relax and recharge your batteries for the week ahead with delectable bloody marys and live acoustic music from Rat on the Roof. The elves have also foreged for the finest local Hackney produce and have found some real treats to end the week in style. Stuff your face with seven different types of scotch eggs from Finest Frayer, dine out with Shoreditch Bake and finish with a cheese board from the Dark Knights of Cholesterol from Chatsworth Road Market.

Unusally familiar characters such as, Christmas Cheer, The Ice Queen & Reindeer Keepers will be making a list and checking twice as they try to find out who's naughty or nice. Good behaviour will be rewarded with 'Christmas infused' cocktails brought to you by Craft Cocktail Co, think ham hock infused vodka and mince pie martinis. A mince pie mix of apples, candied citric peel, orange oil and spices is infused into vodka and left for a week providing optimum flavour. Then filter it twice and add apricot and plum and a hint of lemon to balance…. a sparkling Christmas treat

Outré Events

Monday – Movie Night

The week begins with a sprinkle of Christmas relaxation, and the chance to wind down with Christmas movie favourites, festive food and a range of drinks. Add an assortment of mischievous movie characters and you have the perfect festive eve.

Tuesday – Festive Bingo

It's festive bingo! Hosted by the one and only King of Bing Mr Christmas Cheer. So outlandish he was once banished from Lapland for an undisclosed party based mishap involving a snowman's nose. Expect the unexpected in this yuletide bingo bonanza.

Wednesday – Merry Quizmas

Christmas Cheer is back with his unrivalled festive quiz, and this year it's all about what's in Santa's sack! Stockings are encouraged, as Christmas Cheer can't wait to fill them with some outrageous Outré inspired goodies. With festive gifts to be won throughout the night plus Christmas cocktails, festive mulled wine and ginger beer on tap flowing all night.

Throwback Thursday

For years Mrs Claws has been trying to reignite Scrooge's party past but has never managed to succeed. At Throwback Thursday she's handing control of the playlist over to you. Make sure you fill out a Christmas wish list on your way in and if anyone manages to find the one magical track that banishes Scrooge's Ghosts forever they will receive an extra special Outré prize. A selection of Craft Cocktails and drinks offers available. Christmas jumpers preferred.

Friday – Thank F*ck It's Christmas

Bring in the weekend in style with a selection of the UK's freshest DJ's including Grotto resident Mrs Claws (Caroline Banx). Set amongst three rooms of unimaginably festive outrageousness home to an Ice Queen, Elf King, Mad professor and a selection of Craft Cocktails, 'Thank F*ck It's Christmas' guarantees a strong start to the weekend.

Saturday – Swap-a-HoHo!

It's Saturday night and this party isn't showing any signs of stopping. Join the Elf King, Ice Prince and Snowman amongst other Outré inhabitants and enter Santa's favourite game, Swap-a-HoHo! Santa Claws has one rule and one rule only, when the jingle bells chime one item of clothing must be replaced with something from our festive washing line…

Sunday - Bloody Mary Xmas

Sundays in the grotto are time for relaxing and preparing for the week ahead. A delectable selection of Bloody Mary's and festive food will be available throughout the day and live music will be on offer from 'Rat on the Roof' and other acoustic acts! Christmas cheer will again be on hand to host some Outré inspired Sunday afternoon games providing the perfect end to your week.
