"Fixing Dad" to Host Live Social Media Q&A for diabetes.co.uk on Sunday 1st March

News provided by Pressat Wire on Wednesday 25th Feb 2015

Diabetes.co.uk is Europe's largest patient to patient forum which offers people with diabetes a platform where they can talk, support and help each other. On Sunday 1st March, Fixing Dad's Geoff Whitington and son Anthony will be answering any questions from patients and carers of the diabetes community from 7pm-8pm. Users will have the choice of sending in their questions in advance, or can post their questions to the Facebook and Twitter page live on the night.

Anthony and Ian Whitington's mission is to fix their Dad. Using their collective film making experience they are documenting their dad's journey, from diabetes sufferer to diabetic champion. Their documentary film is about one man's fight to beat advanced Type 2 Diabetes with neuropathy, diabetic foot and retinal problems. So far Geoff has lost 5 stone and circulation has returned to his foot.

After sharing their inspiring story on The One Show and Good Morning Britain, Father and Dad team are now working on completing their film which will premiere at Raindance London in September, and Sundance, Utah, in January 2016. The trailer can be viewed at: http://vimeo.com/105775326

Throughout the Q & A Geoff and Anthony will be available to discuss how Geoff's condition has affected the whole family and how a low carb diet, exercise and focus can help beat Type 2 diabetes. They have found that by cutting out virtually all carbs and fats the condition can be reversed. Their Dad is now completely off all his diabetes medication. Their advice would be: "Don't put off tackling the condition, act now even if it means putting off other things in your life; if you don't get the answers you want from the experts don't give up".

Throughout 2015, Diabetes.co.uk have launched a series of live Q&A's with experts including doctors, dieticians and nutritionists via their Facebook andTwitter page. Social media users will have the chance to ask any diabetes related questions and receive expert.
