News provided by Pressat Wire on Thursday 11th Sep 2014

EXASOL AG, www.exasol.com, maker of the world's fastest in-memory database for analytics, is pleased to announce the availability of the EXASolution Community Edition, a free to download version of the most powerful engine for analytics and data warehousing. The freely downloadable version opens up the power of data analytics to businesses, academics and individuals. It allows them the opportunity to harness their data effectively, make faster and better business decisions, and help project key analyses.

The EXASolution Community Edition provides all of the functionality of the enterprise-level EXASolution in-memory analytic database, allowing a broader base of businesses to test out EXASOL in-memory technology powering their analytic applications. In addition, Community Edition users will have access to a new EXASOL Customer Portal offering a variety of tools, tips and resources to assist diverse users with their data analysis needs.

The Community Edition links with Tableau through a native connector, allowing unique business reporting. It is supported by a community of data scientists, analytics developers and enthusiasts through the new EXASOL Customer Portal. It runs on industry-standard hardware and as a no-cost offering, its scalability will be limited to a single-node provided by support through the EXASolution Customer Portal only.

The EXASolution in-memory database engine is engineered from the ground up to drive the fastest analytics. It achieves lightning-fast performance with linear scalability by combining in-memory technology, columnar storage and compression, and massively parallel processing and has consistently dominated the Transaction Processing Performance Council benchmarks for many years - legitimately making it the fastest analytical database in the world. The other benefit is that EXASolution is self-tuning and self-optimizing, which means that it is easy to use by all and doesn't require engineers to tune it to get the most out of your data.

“Tableau already offers native connectivity to EXASolution,” said Mathias Golombek, CTO of EXASOL. “The announcement of the new EXASolution Community Edition here at Tableau Customer Conference gives Tableau customers a unique opportunity to test out just how much they can up the ante on scale and speed with data analysis, via the Tableau solution.”

“We are working together with Tableau to make the visualization and understanding of the largest data simple and powerful with massive scalability, real-time performance and an ability to blend different data sets together in-memory,” said Aaron Auld, CEO of EXASOL. “EXASolution Community Edition will give all businesses unprecedented access to superfast, real-time data analytics.. We are extremely proud of EXASolution, and we are delighted that everyone can now try out the fastest database in the world on their own hardware in their own environment.”
