Eversheds Champions Gender Equality With Double Award Win
News provided by Pressat Wire on Thursday 3rd Apr 2014
Global law firm Eversheds won Inclusive Culture Award at the Opportunity Now Excellence in Practice Awards 2014, as well as securing a place in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women for the third year in a row.
The Inclusive Culture Award recognises Eversheds as leading the way on the inclusion and progress of women in the workplace. The firm was up against Morgan Stanley and EY for this award. The Awards celebrate public and private sector organisations that have put gender at the heart of their business and are committed to creating inclusive workplaces for women at all levels - Eversheds was the only law firm to be commended at the ceremony. Opportunity Now is the workplace gender campaign from Business in the Community.
Eversheds has also been named today as one of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2014, which lists the organisations that are leading on workplace gender equality. All organisations within the Top 50 have demonstrated that gender equality is a key part of their business strategy, with consistent commitment to progressing women in the workplace that covers their entire organisation, not just isolated areas. Eversheds is one of six law firms to feature in the list.
Ian Gray, Senior Management Team member leading on the development of gender diversity at Eversheds, said:
"Gender diversity is a very important issue for the legal sector. Good gender balance is a key ingredient for a successful 21st century law firm, and we aim to set the standards in this area. We are therefore delighted to be the only law firm to be recognised at the Excellence in Practice Awards, and also to featured in The Times list alongside the UK's most progressive companies, for the third year in a row."
Kathryn Nawrockyi, Director of Opportunity Now, said:
"Congratulations to Eversheds on winning the Inclusive Culture Award at the Opportunity Now Excellence in Practice Awards 2014, and on being named as one of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2014. The standard of entries was incredibly high once again, and they should be hugely proud of their success. Eversheds is a great example of strong leadership; of how putting gender equality at the core of a business can create real, sustainable change for women, organisations and society as a whole. I hope other employers will be inspired by their work and use it to accelerate progress for women in their workforce."
