Edison Group completes the acquisition of GDC Design Ltd

To cap off a busy and productive 2022, Edison Group have just completed the acquisition of the industry leading GDC Design Limited, safeguarding the jobs of everyone already at the company and with an additional 25 jobs within the design, maintenance, and shop fitting specialists expected in 2023.

The acquisition of GDC Design Services is very much a complement to the existing Edison Group companies, and allows then to bring the core services supplied by GDC Design – overall property maintenance, outstanding shop fitting, general construction services, and excellence in interior design – into the fold of the Edison Group, meaning those services are now available in-house across the whole Edison Group of companies.

Edison Group Founder and CEO, Calum Melville, says: ‘We’re so excited by this acquisition within the Edison Group. It just makes perfect sense to add these complementary services to our in-house portfolio, meaning we can control all our property and development projects in-house ourselves in the future. We can’t wait to get started on a lucrative and productive new era for us all.’

The current owner of GDC Design Ltd, Graham Christie, will be staying on as a Director and Consultant for the next 3 years following the handover, to provide continuity and stability for all the staff at the company. Graham said: ‘These are exciting times ahead and, in what’s generally considered to be a difficult period for UK businesses altogether, we’re proud to be bucking the trend and joining forces with what has to now be considered one of the pre-eminent property development Group of Companies in Scotland and the UK.’

The immediate future is looking very rosy indeed for GDC Design, with Edison Group poised to invest circa £200k in 2023 alone, and a new GDC Design Head Office/Workshop/Site in the offing too within this next year.
