DISABLED VETERANS TO BENEFIT FROM NEW ONLINE JOBS PORTAL

News provided by The Poppy Factory on Wednesday 7th Oct 2015

The Poppy Factory, the country's leading employment charity for ex-Service personnel with health challenges, has just launched a website to make it easier for its veterans to apply for jobs across the UK.

The transition into civilian life can be exceptionally tough, especially when you have a major health barrier to employment. The Poppy Factory's unique service prepares disabled veterans for the world of work, and helps to restore their financial independence through sustainable and rewarding careers. Ongoing support ensures veterans thrive in their new workplace.

Ed was diagnosed with PTSD following his career in the Armed Forces. After a failed suicide attempt, Ed received help from The Poppy Factory. He now has a job he loves: “The Poppy Factory stuck with me through thick and thin. They are willing to understand where you've come from, what you've done, and will help you come to terms with your life on Civilian Street. I didn't have this when I first came out.

“There are probably a lot more guys out there that need this help.”

For registered veterans of The Poppy Factory, finding jobs from supportive employers and applying for them is now that much easier. The online jobs portal, www.poppyfactoryjobs.org will be rolled out over the next month through regional Employability Consultants.

Businesses are also able to post their own vacancies. Employers who wish to take advantage of the portal to advertise their jobs to ex-Service personnel with health challenges should first contact The Poppy Factory's Business Development team to set up an account: workwithus@poppyfactory.org.
