Denmark will open the 2026 season of the International Fireworks Competition on 16 May, with this 34th contest themed ‘Dance of Northern Lights’.
2026 will see the International Fireworks Competition enter its 34th season. Under the banner ‘Dance of Northern Lights’, five teams from northern parts will be seeking to outdo each other over five evenings between May and September. Inspired by the Polar Lights – among the most awe-inspiring natural phenomena anywhere – they will transform the sky over Hanover into a vibrant, colourful spectacle.
There will also be a supporting programme with culinary offerings, picnic areas, live music and fun activities for children to join in, as anticipation builds for the main event – the fireworks display.
