David Bailey Awarded Healthcare Furniture Contract for UCLH Cancer and Surgery Facility by Bouygues UK
The contract is an endorsement of our healthcare specialisation and support of British manufacturing
David Bailey Furniture Systems (DBFS), have been chosen by Bouygues UK to provide healthcare furniture for the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) flagship project. The contract covers the supply and installation of approximately 5,000 items of DBFS Healthcare Collection furniture manufactured at the DBFS facility in Broadstairs, Kent together with the installation of approximately 4,500 items of assisted furniture and equipment provided by the UCLH.
The healthcare furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) package contains clinical furniture including, floor and wall units, worktops, shelving to clean/dirty utilities rooms and treatment rooms. In addition, the contract covers staff bases and reception desks manufactured to bespoke designs. DBFS are also supplying the bespoke fitted bedroom furniture for both NHS and HCA wards spanning over 90 bedrooms. The contract covers the supply and installation of fitted furniture across 10 floors of the new facility and is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2020.

Healthcare Furniture Contract - DBFS has been involved with Bouygues UK for over two years developing the furniture specification endorsing the importance Bouygues UK places on delivering the correct furniture for this prestigious project. DBFS will be manufacturing and supplying all healthcare furniture covering storage units, worktops, shelving, bedroom furniture, reception and staff counters. The fitted furniture is built to meet the Department of Health’s HTM 63 (Health Technical Memorandum) with any modular storage meeting HTM 71 specifications. Manufacturing of the products starts in November 2019 built specifically to meet the tailored requirements of UCLH. Installation managed by DBFS will be completed by May 2020.
Bouygues UK were awarded the contract by UCLH in 2015 to design and build the new state-of-the-art hospital dedicated to advanced cancer treatment and surgery services in central London. During that time the project has been visited by Matt Hancock in 2018, when he was Secretary of State, shortlisted in the Public Sector Design Stage category of the BREEAM Awards 2019, covered in the recent Raconteur report on advancements in Combating Cancer and featured in BBC Horizon’s July 2019 episode on a 2 year report covering the project.
