Community welcomes completion of clean water project by Hope Spring

Clean water advocacy charity, Hope Spring has just handed it's latest borehole project to the community it partnered with, to bring safe clean water to a community of more than sixty people strong. The Hereford based charity announced the handing over ceremony on its social media page on Friday the 2nd of June.

The project, a thirty metre deep borehole , with multiple standpipes was funded and delivered in a partnership between Hameedah Poverty Relief, Ozami greetings and Hope Spring water. There are about sixty beneficiaries of the water project in the immediate vicinity of the borehole. Community leaders in the area, who the borehole was handed over to, said they expect to share it with neighbouring communities. This would expand potential beneficiaries of the project to hundreds of people.

Hope Spring trustee, Temi Odurinde said “we are absolutely delighted to complete and handover the Sumonu community borehole in Agege to the beneficiaries.” he added “this is one of our outstanding projects, which was postponed several times during the pandemic of 2020. We are grateful for the patience of the community members and our partners.”

Successful completion of the project, which went over budget by 40% was largely due to the additional funding made available by online birthday greetings card platform Hope Spring eCards. The platform has helped the charity to complete more than six projects in 2023. This year is expected to be the busiest year for the Hope Spring clean water project. They hope to complete another half a dozen projects by the end of the year.
