Chinese New Year celebrations in Cleethorpes to benefit local hospice
“Perhaps the most popular entertainment during Chinese New Year is the Lion Dance, and we are very fortunate to have one of the best in the country"
The Year of the Pig will arrive in Cleethorpes in style thanks to a fantastic festival that will benefit St Andrew’s Hospice.
North East Lincolnshire’s Chinese Community will hold the celebrations at the Memorial Hall in Cleethorpes on Sunday 10 February from 12pm-5pm.
There will be food offerings available, both traditional New Year fare and Filipino street food, multi-cultural entertainment, hand crafts and a prize raffle.
Organisers are promising some of the best Chinese New Year entertainment that the country has to offer for the event.
William Wong from the North East Lincolnshire Chinese Community is excited to be part of the festivities.
He said: “We have traditional Chinese singing and music, as well as songs from the Humber Belles, Tarrin-Marie Dawson and May Lai.
“Perhaps the most popular entertainment during Chinese New Year is the Lion Dance, and we are very fortunate to have one of the best in the country, Lucky Lion, who will be travelling all the way from Cardiff especially for the event.
“Places are limited for the celebrations, so we would urge the local community to act quickly to purchase their tickets for a great afternoon of entertainment.
“We are delighted that this year we will be supporting St Andrew’s Hospice, a charity close to many of our hearts.”
Tickets for the event are on sale now, priced £10 for adults, which includes a hot Chinese buffet, and £5 for under-10s.
