Cheshire invites you for a Summer of High Energy and Horsepower

As Visit England announce their 'Home of Sport' campaign this week, Cheshire gears up for a summer of fast cars and thoroughbreds.

This weekend sees the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power returning for the 8th year within the stand-out setting of Cholmondeley Castle, with thrilling track races, stunts, competitions and displays as well as live music from the Rick Parfitt Jnr Band on the Friday evening, and X Factor Contestants 'Tenors of Rock' taking to the stage on Saturday.

Track action will include over 120 of the country's most valuable historic vehicles, supercars and bikes battling it out for a place on the podium. There will be drag car and bike demonstrations together with stunts from Trials Bike Legend Dougie Lampkin and Jet Ski Championships together with fly-board demonstrations and rib rides on the lake. Friday visitors will be treated to a parade of every production Lotus ever manufactured and on Saturday the first concours d'elegance will celebrate American Muscle cars and 80's poster supercars. On Sunday it's all up in the air as the Red Bull Matadors perform an exhilarating routine and the Vulcan bomber makes its last ever flight over Cheshire.

The following weekend of 18-21st June sees the glamour and glory of Bolesworth International, 4 action-packed days of world class show-jumping that has attracted almost a fifth of the top world-ranked 100 riders including World Number One Scott Brash, 2012 Olympic Gold Medallist Nick Skelton; US competitors Laura Kraut and Lauren Hough and Irish international Cian O'Connor. The show is also a fantastic day out for the whole family including non-equestrian visitors with activities like camel-racing and reptile-petting, as well as much-loved dog-shows and even a Sheep Grand National.

Thrill-seekers will get to see world champion jet-skier Anthony Burgess take to Bolesworth Lake for a display of death-defying stunts and tricks. The Fine Food, Fashion & Lifestyle Festival with celebrity chef demonstrations, home interior workshops, fashion shows and an extensive shopping village, the event has something for everyone.

Summer visitors are already flocking to Chester Racecourse for elegant summer afternoons, thrill-filled race evenings and family fun days from now until the end of September. The historic site is also a hub for polo with The England International Polo Weekend returning to The Roodee for the 4th year on 4th and 5th September, as the England team do battle on the field with previous opponents being South America and the Rest of the World.

Other equestrian highlights in the county include the South View British Masters, 2* and Amateur International from 3-5th July and the British Eventing Horse Trials at Kelsall Hill from 25-27th September. Cheshire Polo Club will also host a series of high-octane competitions and social days including the popular National 6 Goal tournament from 3-5th July and the SUPA Home Nations Cup on 22nd and 23rd August.

For petrol heads and food lovers, CarFest will be returning to Oulton Park from 31st July to 2nd August. This irresistible mix of cars, music, food and family fun was brought to life by Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans to help raise funds for Children In Need. The event has new family attractions this year including GoalFest, Stunt School, 'The Beach' (complete with deck chairs), a Vintage Village and Mega Land as well as everything from batmobiles and beach buggies to supercars and F1 racers on the track. Musical acts performing this year include Primal Scream, Rebecca Ferguson, Will Young, The Feeling and many more.

The summer of style and sporting action has already started and for those wanting to visit the city of Chester and the glorious county of Cheshire then 2015 is the year to join the party.
