Chance to meet Wayne Rooney among online charity auction prizes
News provided by Pancreatic Cancer Action on Wednesday 20th Nov 2013
Over fifty sought-after prizes are available in an online auction held by Pancreatic Cancer Action to raise money for the charity.
Pancreatic cancer kills 22 people in the UK per day and it has the lowest survival rate of any cancer. The three per cent five year survival rate has not changed in over 40 years.
Members of the public are invited to bid on a fantastic variety of prizes including a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet one of the UK’s most famous footballers Wayne Rooney in December, a four-night holiday to Spain for eight people with spending money and brunch with tigers.
Other prizes include spa days, One Direction tickets and lunch for two at stunning locations including The Shard and Blenheim Palace.
Ali Stunt, founder of Pancreatic Cancer Action and rare 6+ year survivor, said: “Our charity is focussed on increasing the number of pancreatic cancer survivors with a particular focus on early diagnosis. An online auction during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month is a great way for us to raise vital funds as well as bringing awareness to pancreatic cancer. We’d like to thank all those generous organisations who donated prizes.”
Julie Hesmondhalgh, the actress who plays pancreatic cancer patient Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street, kindly organised for prizes from the popular soap to be provided. These include a script signed by Julie and David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper, a signed photo and placemat.
Pancreatic Cancer Action aim is to create awareness of pancreatic cancer and get people diagnosed in time for surgery, the only potential cure at this time.
