Kilts, haggis and whisky will be the order of the evening for supporters of St Andrew’s Hospice when they get the opportunity to celebrate Burns Night in the charity’s Appetite restaurant on Peaks Lane in Grimsby on the evening of Thursday 25 January.
The hospice will be hosting a special Burns Night supper that features a three-course meal, traditional toasts, Scottish-themed entertainment and a piper, on the night that celebrates the life of the famed Ayrshire poet.
Geoff Jago is Head of Finance and Support Services at St Andrew’s Hospice and he is relishing a fabulous evening of Scottish festivity.
“Our Burns Night Supper will feature a traditional three-course meal, with a vegetarian haggis option,” he said.
“There will be a dram for traditional toasts and we will have Scottish-themed entertainment, speeches and verses.
“But perhaps most importantly, we are delighted to welcome piper Hugh Higgins to perform for us – he is a professional piper and a veteran of many Burns nights.”
And Geoff is hoping to see plenty of tartan from supporters on the evening.
He continued: “For those of Scottish heritage, we would love to see you in traditional dress.
“Places are limited for the event, so we would encourage you to get tickets purchased for what is sure to be a memorable night.”
Tickets for the event are priced at £35 per person and include the three-course meal, dram, entertainment and piper.
The menu for the night is a starter of leek and potato or cock-a-leekie soup; a main course of haggis (vegetarian option available) or chicken breast in leek and white wine sauce, with neeps and tatties; a dessert of Cranachan (raspberries folded into cream, flavoured with honey, whiskey and toasted oatmeal) and coffee and shortbread.
There is also a selection of wines and beers available to purchase.
You can purchase tickets directly from our Appetite restaurant at the hospice on Peaks Lane in Grimsby or by calling 01472 350 908 ext. 229.
