Cast members from Elf the Musical perform for patients and children at local hospice
We are delighted that cast members from Elf have donated their time to help us spread some Christmas joy
Cast members from the sell-out musical Elf helped patients, staff and local schoolchildren get into the festive spirit on Friday afternoon (11th December 2015) by performing a selection of Christmas songs at Royal Trinity Hospice.
The chorus of 16 treated the audience to classic Christmas hits such as Silent Night, Walking in a Winter Wonderland and Jingle Bells, as well as selected songs from the original Broadway production. The performers from the West End show, based on the 2003 New Line Cinema film starring Will Ferrell, were accompanied by Elf's musical director Stuart Morley on keyboard.
Primary school children from local school Parkgate House attended the performance dressed as elves and joined in by singing along with the cast.
Dallas Pounds, Chief Executive of Trinity, said, “At Christmas time, we try to go the extra mile to get into the festive spirit as we know that this is a precious time for many of our patients and their families. We are delighted that cast members from Elf have donated their time to help us spread some Christmas joy."
Jo Miles, Stage Manager of the hit show, said “As a regular volunteer in Trinity's inpatient centre, I was thrilled when some of the cast approached me and offered to perform some Christmas songs at Trinity. Having seen first-hand the amazing work Trinity does, I hope this concert will bring joy at this special time of year for a very special place."
Royal Trinity Hospice provides skilled, compassionate end of life care to over 1,500 Londoners every year in the hospice in Clapham, and in patients' own homes. Trinity operates 365 days a year, including Christmas. Trinity receives less than a third of its funding from the NHS, and must raise £8million every year to continue providing its vital services to people in central and south west London.
