Care starts at the front door for Age Concern Hampshire

News provided by Age Concern Hampshire on Wednesday 8th Jul 2026

For many older people across Hampshire, the biggest barrier to enjoying friendship, activities and support isn't a lack of opportunity; it's simply getting there.

Age Concern Hampshire is shining a light on its door-to-door transport service, which helps older people attend its elderly day care centres safely while giving families valuable peace of mind.

Far more than a transport service, the charity's dedicated drivers and passenger assistants support clients from the moment they arrive at their home. They can help ensure clients have everything they need for the day ahead, from walking aids and medication to coats and personal belongings and can even make sure the home is secure before setting off.

After a day spent enjoying activities, companionship and a freshly prepared meal at one of the charity's four Care and Wellbeing Centres across Hampshire, clients are safely returned home and helped to settle back in comfortably.

For many families, this personal approach removes one of the biggest challenges of accessing day care services and enables older people to continue living independently while remaining socially connected.

Hannah Park, Head of Operations at Age Concern Hampshire said: "Our transport service is about so much more than getting someone from A to B. It's about providing reassurance, building trusted relationships and helping people continue doing the things they enjoy with confidence and independence. We know that for many families, simply knowing their loved one is being supported from the moment they leave home until they're safely back again makes a huge difference."

Age Concern Hampshire's Care and Wellbeing Centres provide a welcoming environment for older people, including those living with dementia. Clients can enjoy meaningful activities, nutritious meals, companionship and personalised additional support, helping to reduce loneliness and promote independence.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the charity's day care centres or its door-to-door transport service is encouraged to contact their local centre to discuss their individual needs and availability.
