Cancer Victim Wins Free Hair Transplant
News provided by FUE Hair Clinics on Tuesday 8th Oct 2013
A young man who lost his hair while battling cancer is to be given a free hair transplant after winning a competition.
Dean Williams was just 19-years-old when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and lost his hair as a result of grueling bouts of chemotherapy.
Now 24, Dean, from Portsmouth, is about to receive his first full head of hair in five years thanks to FUE Hair Clinics©.
“Despite saving my life, the chemotherapy rendered me pretty much bald as a coot,” he explained. “I started losing my hair at the age of 18, a year before my diagnosis, but my battle with cancer seemed to have sped up the balding process and my hair never recovered.”
“Winning has meant the world to me and will change how I feel about myself. I lost so much confidence during my fight with cancer, so this is like the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.”
Dean, who works with children with mental health difficulties, was chosen from hundreds of men who entered the competition in Attitude magazine. In 100 words he had to write what a transplant would mean to him and how it could change his life.
He is set to receive his new head of hair, worth of £15,000, in November at FUE Hair Clinics©’ premises in London.
Michael Psaltakis, managing director of FUE Hair Clinics©, added: “We had so many brilliant stories but Dean’s really stood out to us. The procedure is pain-free, scar-free and permanent so it will be ideal for Dean after all he has been through. Besides surviving cancer, he has dedicated his career helping children with mental difficulties. So we wanted to help him and restore his lost hair.”
