News provided by Pressat Wire on Thursday 8th Oct 2015

The BT World Wheelchair Rugby challenge has confirmed the addition of a major new partner for the tournament running alongside the Rugby World Cup.

SsangYong Motor UK has confirmed its support of the event taking place from 12 to 16 October 2015 at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. Competing nations have been divided into two pools and will battle it out for top position in each group before the semi-finals on Thursday and a thrilling battle for medals on the Friday. Great Britain will feature in the first three evening sessions and a special USA v Canada 'Murderball' match will begin the tournament on Monday 12 October.

The BT WWRC will see London 2012 Paralympic Gold medallists Australia return to the Olympic Park alongside Silver medallists Canada and Bronze medallists USA. Other nations taking part besides Great Britain are New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and France. There will be 20 matches over five days and tickets have been priced competitively so that the tournament is open to all. Session tickets are priced from £5 to £45 and each gives access to a minimum of two matches. With nine sessions going on sale, there will be over 50,000 tickets available, 70 per cent of which are priced at £20 and under, with most children's tickets £10 and under. Wheelchair and accessible seats will be available for each session, each including a free companion seat.

David Pond, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to confirm this significant partnership with SsangYong who share our aim to provide a world class event for the public and the many Rugby World Cup visitors to England; it will also be a great opportunity for the GB team to play the best in the world a year out from Rio.”

Steve Gray, marketing and communications director of SsangYong Motor UK, said: “We are very pleased to be a major sponsor of BT WWRC15, and greatly looking forward to showcasing our vehicles to the rugby world, its players and supporters.”
