Bridstow Community Coffee Morning Raises Funds for Hope Spring Water

A community coffee morning held at Bridstow village hall, Ross-On-Wye on Wednesday the 1st of March 2023, raised vital funds for Hope Spring water charity. A Hereford based water and period poverty alleviation charity. The coffee morning, known as first Wednesday coffee morning, sees people from the village of Bridstow and the surrounding villages and the town of Ross-On-Wye get together for a cup of tea or coffee, with a serving of cakes and enjoy a chat with friends and other attendees of the monthly event.

The Bridstow community coffee morning tends to attract around twenty or so people every month. The coffee, tea and cakes served is usually donated by participants. After making payment for the use of the village hall, there is always a generous surplus of funds. A local charity, nominated by a participant or the community tends to be the beneficiary of the surplus funds.

Peter Dowsett, a regular member of the group and a Hope Spring trustee nominated Hope Spring to be the beneficiary of the surplus funds from the event of Wednesday the 1st of March 2023. Hundreds of pounds is expected to go to the organisation.

Hope Spring founder Temi Odurinde was invited to the gathering to talk about the charity’s clean water projects and his organisation. Speaking at the event, Mr Odurinde said “this year so far, we have completed the construction of four boreholes in Sierra Leone. The project is expected to provide clean drinking water to more than six hundred people. We are working on two more projects in Nigeria, which would provide safe water to more than three hundred people”. He added that “without fundraisers like this one, we would not be able to help the communities we are helping”.
