Boogie Bounce Soars for Sports Relief
“In the 21 years I’ve been running Boogie Bounce we’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for both local and national charities,” says Jenny, 53.
Thousands of Boogie Bounce fans ‘jumped and boinged’ across the country for Sport Relief on Sunday 18th March 2018 – raising £6,000 for good causes.
Even Arctic conditions across the UK couldn’t scupper the fitness company’s first synchronised ‘bounce-athon’ which saw giant classes of up to 100 at 10 locations nationwide.
Instructor Caroline Cunningham celebrated a sell-out success for all three of her back-to-back classes in Levenmouth Academy, Fife, which involved a total of 300 bouncers on mini trampolines for the charity extravaganza.
“Our bounceathon was amazing,” she said. “We had a mixture of regular bouncers – who roped in their partners and families to join them - and complete newbies who had never bounced before.
“The atmosphere was buzzing and we raised an extra £1,149 just from our cake sale, tombola and raffle. I am so proud of the community for supporting me and helping to make the event such a success.”
In Southport, Merseyside, Amy Thompson was also celebrating a sell-out success for her hour long event at Dunes Splash World. “Our bouncers ranged in age from six to 64,” she said. “They included lots of men giving it a go for the first time and even two women who had driven all the way from Wales especially to take part,” she said. “The atmosphere was electric with people whooping, singing and smiling all the way through.
“I’ve already had people book in for regular classes as a result.”
For Boogie Bounce founder Jenny Belcher the success of the fundraising effort has exceeded all expectations. “In the 21 years I’ve been running Boogie Bounce we’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for both local and national charities,” says Jenny, 53. “But this was our biggest, most ambitious, event ever – and I couldn’t be prouder of our instructors for making it happen.
“It was amazing to see everyone pull together and do such a fantastic job – especially in the face of such adverse weather conditions. I’m passionate about getting the world to bounce and discover the very many health benefits for themselves – so mass events like this are perfect for spreading the word.
“Look out for our next events which will be even bigger and better.”
Sports Relief is a national initiative organised by Comic Relief encouraging supporters to get active and raise money for charities both across the UK and abroad.
