BBC3 Documentary Explores Domestic Violence Prevention Work Being Done In London
So much of the work done around Domestic Violence is reactionary, and we are very excited that BBC3 has recognised the importance of prevention work
On Thursday, 26th June at 9 pm the BBC3 will air, Stacey Dooley: The Truth About Domestic Violence. The film looks at many facets of Domestic Violence in the UK, but features the work of Tender Education & Arts in the hour long show.
The production team got in touch with Tender in order to film one of their Healthy Relationships sessions in action. Tender runs sessions in schools, PRUs, and Youth Centres around the country in an effort to educate young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships. It is Tender's belief that engaging in sessions that teach about the early warning signs of abuse, challenge victim blaming, promote positive relationships, and call excuses for violence into question, may in fact work as Domestic Violence prevention.
So much of the work done around Domestic Violence is reactionary, and we are very excited that the BBC3 and Mentorn Media have recognised the importance of the preventative work Tender does in and out of schools. Education is key to changing the numbers that we see everyday. 2 women a week are killed by a partner or ex-partner, and Tender is working to change that.
