Barratt Homes Helps Feed Those In Need This Christmas - Telford

Barratt Homes West Midlands has set up a food bank collection point in its sales office at Woodland View on The Crescent in Lawley Village, Telford and is encouraging people to visit the development and donate food to the Telford Food Bank this festive season.

Unfortunately 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK. In 2012-13 foodbanks fed 346,992 people nationwide. Of those helped, 126,889 were children. Rising costs of food and fuel combined with static income, high unemployment and changes to benefits are causing more and more people to go to foodbanks for help.

The Telford Food Bank is one of over 380 foodbanks providing emergency food to people in crisis nationwide.

Andrea Shotbolt, Senior Sales Manager for Barratt Homes West Midlands, commented, "We are pleased to be able to say that we are helping those in the local community who need help getting food to eat this Christmas.

"The Telford Food Bank is a worthy cause to support and we would urge anybody who has some spare food in the run up to Christmas to come to our sales office at Woodland View and donate some food.

Barratt West Midlands is running the initiative until Friday 20th December so people are able to collect food in time for Christmas. Anyone wishing to donate items should visit the sales office any day of the week between 10am and 5pm. Non-perishable items such as rice and pasta, tinned fruit and vegetables, tinned soup and fish, tea bags and coffee, biscuits and cereals are all welcomed but items such as milk, bread and anything that carries a use by date should be avoided.

Barratt West Midlands has been awarded the maximum five star official rating from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for the fourth year in a row. The news was announced after more than 20,000 new home buyers across the country took part in this year's HBF customer satisfaction survey.
