Authors Shout House With The Playing Bingo Short Story Competition

UK web site Playing Bingo is offering authors the chance to win prizes with its newly launched short story competition. Since 2005 the site has been a premiere resource for information and history on the game in the UK, cataloging its rich heritage and culture. With an already large amount of factual information on the site, the competition aims to expand the cultural side of the game with new fiction related generated by the competition.
The 1st Playing Bingo Short Story Competition is open to UK residents aged 18 and over. With free entry and a £300 first prize, the competition will be of interest to any budding short story writing looking to create exciting new fiction for the competition. Shortlisted entries will also have their stories featured in an anthology to be published by the site.
With the theme of Bingo as the seed for the stories, there's plenty of scope for authors to create stories about the game. Given its popularity in schools, social clubs and at charity events as well traditional retail and online bingo industry; the scope is huge and should stimulate the creative juices of all wanting a shot at the first prize. Stories are limited to 3000 words in length, and entries for the competition close in February 2013, giving possible entrants plenty of time to get their stories together.
Judging will take place in March 2013 by the panel. Joining a number of published writers at Playing Bingo will be the award winning novelist and short story writer Rachel Trezise. With three more cash prizes up for the best stories alongside the grand prize, penning a winning story could pay well for entrants. Playing Bingo's David Lloyd had this to say about the competition.
"I've always enjoyed using the old bingo hall I once worked at as the inspiration for my creative endeavors. With this competition I'm actively trying to expand bingo's cultural legacy.
