Augustus Collection announces it support for the Commemorating Augustus Project as a bi-millennium anniversary of the first Roman emperor, Augustus approaches on the 19th August 2014.
LONDON, Travel trade Business to Business sales and marketing company Augustus Collection announces its support for The Commemorating Augustus Project, led by Dr. Penny Goodman from the University of Leeds. The Commemorating Augustus project is dedicated to exploring the two-thousand-year legacy of the first Roman emperor following his death on the 19th August 14 AD.
Augustus was the first and most powerful emperor in the history of the Roman Empire. His phenomenal leadership earned him the famous reputation of being strong, honest, dependable and relentless in providing wise rule for his great empire. Born as Octavian Caesar, great nephew of Julius Caesar, he was later given the name of Augustus (“the revered one”) by the Senate in honour of his many achievements. Augustus was a true leader in the Roman Empire.
The foundation of the Augustus Collection demonstrates how powerful the image of Augustus still is today. “The Commemorating Augustus project is delighted to be working in partnership with the Augustus Collection as the bi-millennium approaches. We look forward to sharing insights into his career, and learning how Augustus can serve today as the icon of a modern business empire,” states Dr. Goodman.
The Commemorating Augustus Project will lead to the publication of two books and the project will include a series of workshops and conferences:
• A half-day colloquium in Leeds on May 10th 2013
• A teachers’ training day in Manchester in November 2013
• An exhibition in collaboration with Leeds Museums in summer 2014
• A conference held at Leeds from the 18th through to 20th August 2014
