Asda Money Reveals Three new Cars for Summer

With new car sales in June increasing by more than 13%, Asda Money reveals that motorists are snapping up new cars in their droves, with just under 215,000 new car registrations in June alone1.

For drivers who are keen to purchase a new set of wheels in 2013, Asda Money looks at three new cars for the summer.

1. Skoda Octavia estate

Debuted in June the all-new ŠKODA Octavia Estate comes available in three trims, S, SE and Elegance, and has an on the road starting price of just £16,790. The model’s flagship 2.0-litre TDI CR delivers 150PS. CO2 emissions for the 13 model range from 99g/km, making the car exempt from road tax and the London congestion charge, to 121g/km.

Standard features include 16” ‘Minoris” alloy wheels, leather steering wheel (4 spoke) and electro-mechanical power steering.


2. Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion

The five-seat Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion offers a winning combination of ‘comfort, safety and practicality’. Making its way to UK showrooms in August the model delivers fuel consumption of 88.3 mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of just 85 g/km, which means like the Octavia it is also exempt from road tax and the London congestion charge. The model’s 1.6-litre engine delivers 110 PS, reaching a top speed of 124mph. Pricing for the model starts from £20,000 for the three-door version, £20,750 for the five-door.

3. Dacia Logan MCV

Described as the ‘UK’s most affordable estate’ the Dacia Logan MCV will make its official debut in the summer, with first deliveries scheduled for July.

The 5-seater comes with a choice of two petrol engines the new 1.2 16v 75 brand new TCe 90, with its a three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit.

The TCe 90 delivers a fuel economy of 56.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 116 g/km. The range of features include media nav (available on selected versions) is a fully-integrated multimedia system, cruise control with speed limiter (on some versions), and power steering on all versions.
