Announcing the Launch of Mysteries in Time, The UK’s only Subscription Box bringing History to Life for 7-11 year olds

Mysteries in Time, the exciting history subscription box bringing history to life for 7-11 year olds, announces its launch. Each month, subscribers receive a time machine postal box packed with high-quality, fun activities, all linked to a different period in history. Through a combination of fiction, non-fiction, crafts and fun puzzles, children will gain a solid understanding of a different historical time each month, while being inspired to love history!

Mysteries in Time is a start-up business devised by primary school teacher Samantha Metcalf, 36, and her partner, Peter Walliker, 36, as a fun way to engage children in learning about the past.

“While Mysteries in Time can be used to support or complement the curriculum, it does not exclusively follow it. We believe in a broad educational experience and are happy to be free from the constraints of the curriculum; we will choose our historical topics based on how interesting we think they are to explore and learn about.”

Central to each month’s box is an illustrated adventure story, written exclusively for Mysteries in Time, that follows the two characters, Max and Katie, as they travel back in time to solve a mystery.

The first month’s historical topic is Ancient Egypt, where they encounter mummies, pharaohs, pyramids and more! In the story, Max and Katie also receive a time machine through the post, so readers can feel like they are part of the adventure!

Also included: a supporting history booklet that explains everything in the story and more, puzzles, stickers, a gift, a craft, a bookmark and colouring-in, all linked to that month’s theme. In the first month, subscribers also receive a free world map with a timeline, and each month the child can add their timeline sticker to build up their chronological understanding.

Future months will visit Elizabethan London, War-time Britain and Ancient Greece.

In this digital world, Mysteries in Time is a refreshing step back to the days before computer screens took over. Children will experience the simple excitement of receiving a gift through the post each month, while discovering new worlds in a fun and creative way.
