AMTE Power’s Subsidiary, AGM Batteries gains support in The UK Government backed Battery Challenge

AMTE Power, confirms success for its development and production company AGM Batteries, helping to develop the UK Niche Vehicle Battery Cell Supply Chain, a project that is Government backed supports its Industrial Strategy, AGM aims to develop safe, cost effective, durable, lighter weight, high-performing and recyclable batteries in the UK.

AGM Batteries have the largest lithium cell scale-up facility in the UK, is well placed to help develop cells that will power the next generation of electric vehicles.

AGM are continually expanding cutting-edge technology and skills to be truly world class in a new and key industry sector.

About the Faraday Challenge:

Government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund is bringing together UK research organisations with businesses to tackle the biggest industrial and societal challenges.

The Faraday Battery Challenge is one strand. With a total fund of £246 million, the investment by Government. It aims to develop safe, cost effective, durable, lighter weight, high-performing and recyclable batteries in the UK to power the next generation of electric vehicles.

The competition forms part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund announced by Rt Hon. Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, last year.

About the AGM Project

Although Li-ion technology was invented in the UK, it was the Japanese technology giant Sony that commercialised and brought the first Li-ion products to market. The UK is very strong on battery technology research. AGM aim to bridge the gap between research and product, to bring battery cell manufacture back to the UK. AGM doing this in a very focused way, supporting the UKs niche vehicles manufacturing sectors and helping it to thrive in the new world of vehicle electrification.

Having the largest lithium cell scale-up facility in the UK and one of only a few in Europe, AGM are continually expanding our cutting-edge technology and skills to be truly world class. Working with other highly innovative companies, Universities and partners internationally, AGM is already working on the next generation of cells. Further projects are planed including the Development of a range of cells aimed at supporting our Automotive and Energy Storage customers.
