Allianz Global Assistance Technician Shortlisted For Imi Award

News provided by Pressat Wire on Wednesday 16th Sep 2015

Mike Donley, Technical Training Manager at Allianz Global Assistance UK, has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Accredited Professional (technical) award at the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Outstanding Achievers Awards 2015. The prestigious annual awards focus on recognising the talent of those in the motor industry.

Joining Allianz Global Assistance in 1996 as a Roadside Technician, Mike was soon promoted to the position of Technical Training Manager. His responsibilities currently include supporting the personal development of the company's fleet of field-based technicians and Operational staff, as well as offering technical support to around 450 Agent Networks.

Recognised as a leading figure in the development of training for Light Commercial Vehicle Recovery, Mike's focus and continued commitment to learning and development has had significant influence throughout this industry. This is evident through his achievement of the IMI's Advanced Automotive Assessor Professional standards (AdAAP). This enabled him to act as a Master Assessor on behalf of the IMI when it was trialling the ATA Assessor Standards, which has led to others in the industry now being able to achieve IMI accreditation.

Mike has also been instrumental in developing a training course which enables roadside technicians to give assistance to Electric and Hybrid vehicles.

Rob Lunt, Deputy Operations Director for Allianz Global Assistance UK said "We are thrilled that Mike has been shortlisted for this award. His dedication and commitment to both his role and the motor industry as a whole is evident for all to see. He has been extremely influential in the development and implementation of quality training and accreditation programmes, as well as raising and setting the standards for roadside assistance technicians.

"His enthusiasm and desire to benefit those working within this area of the industry continues in his spare time, as he voluntarily gives lectures at Croydon College on new electric vehicle technology. This initiative was backed by one of our vehicle manufacturer clients, as they too fully recognise the benefits of Mike sharing his expertise and knowledge with others.

"Mike is an absolute credit to Allianz Global Assistance. We all have our fingers crossed, but we know that no matter who wins on the day, Mike is driving positive progression across the industry."

Winners will be announced at this year's awards ceremony to be held at the home of British Motorsport, Silverstone on the 22nd October.
