Age UK Appoints Savills for 90 Store Expansion Drive

News provided by Pressat Wire on Wednesday 2nd Aug 2017

Age UK has instructed international real estate advisor Savills to acquire 90 new stores and 15 donation centres in England and Wales over the next three years, as part of plans to significantly expand its capacity and regional network.

The charity provides vital services and support for the UK's ageing population with funds generated through its portfolio of stores, which currently stands at circa 450. Following an in depth analysis of its existing network of shops, the expansion drive will target additional units of approximately 1,000 sq ft ( sq m) to 5,000 sq ft (sq m) and focus on high street locations as well as market towns, shopping parks, district centres and retail schemes anchored by food stores.

Steve Henderson, retail director at Savills, comments: “We are very pleased to be supporting Age UK with the ambitious plans to expand its store portfolio. The additional shops will play a key role in increasing capacity and market awareness, ultimately generating more funds which the charity can invest back into the much needed services it provides for people in later life.”
