After INC 5.2 Stalemate, Global Survey Launched To Boost Understanding of Reuse Practitioners
Understanding of reuse solutions is poor. We want to change that.
The collapse of negotiations at INC 5.2 was a lost opportunity to get a grip on plastic waste with production limits and a focus on solutions that work.
Reuse is widely recognised as the best solution, preventing plastic packaging waste at source by replacing single-use models with refillable, returnable, or packaging-free systems. Yet understanding of reuse practitioners is poor and reuse is underrepresented in policymaking.
To address this gap, REUSE Foundation is conducting a Global Reuse Practitioners Survey, the world’s first effort to capture insights on this critical movement. This initiative will gather first-hand perspectives from those implementing reuse across different markets and contexts, from multinational supply chains to local community schemes.
The survey will focus on:
- Operational barriers and opportunities for scaling reuse
- Policy and regulatory measures that can accelerate adoption
- Effective financial and business models
- Key lessons learned from practitioners on the ground
“The absence of reuse practitioners in the global dialogue creates a disconnect between policy ambition and practical implementation,” said Roger Sharp, REUSE Foundation Trustee. “By capturing these insights, we aim to ensure future strategies are grounded in real-world experience.”
Survey findings will be published in a global report later this year to guide policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society on enabling conditions for scaling reuse.
Call for Participation:
Reuse practitioners across sectors are invited to contribute by completing the survey here.
