A Clear Vision for Diabetic Sufferers

News provided by Tower Health on Monday 24th Nov 2014

New hope for diabetic sufferers as a daily supplement with strong clinical evidence to treat Diabetic Retinopathy is launched.

Tower Health is proud to announce the launch of Retixoft – the new daily supplement available in the UK that fights against the debilitating effects of Diabetic Retinopathy.

Diabetes affects 3.2million in the UK alone, and this is expected to rise to 5 million by 2025, that's over 400 people every day! Diabetes can often lead to further complications, including eye-sight deterioration, often caused by Diabetic Retinopathy when damage to the retina at the back of the eye is caused, which can eventually lead to blindness.

Sufferers can experience blurred vision, dark shadows or may see a gradual build-up of black spots in their central vision. Left untreated, Diabetic Retinopathy can often result in blindness. 1,200 new cases of blindness are identified each year that are a direct result of suffering from Diabetic Retinopathy.

Retixoft delivers key essential nutrients, to help remove 'free radicals' that block up the blood vessels. The active ingredient – Alpha Lipoic Acid - quickly absorbs into the bloodstream, has strong anti-oxidant properties to remove free radicals and increases blood flow which reduces vision impairment. Supported by Vitamins B1 and B2, essential for cell repair, another key ingredient is Rutoside which helps to reduce glucose levels and increase insulin, helping the body's cells to function properly and maintain eye health.

Tower Health's in-house Pharmacist Ruman Sharma says "maintaining healthy and well-functioning eyes is of high importance to all of us. Retixoft offers a role in helping and supporting the overall functionality of the eyes and can contribute in the maintenance of their overall care". Retixoft is available to buy online at Tower Health for £17.95 for a pack of 30 capsules, and is soon to be available in your local pharmacy.

Notes

So how does diabetes affect eye health exactly? The eye is a network of blood vessels and layers that need to work together to maintain proper eye function. Like the rest of the body, the eyes are dependent on blood supply, when there is too much glucose in the blood the vessels become thicker, causing the blood vessels to become narrower or blocked. As a result, the vessels struggle to deliver essential nutrients, oxygen and sugar, to the eye cells. Delaying nutrients can result in damage to the surrounding cells, including the macula, the most used area of the retina.

Retixoft contains the active ingredient – Alpha Lipoic Acid, shown in clinical evaluations to dramatically improve eye health and reverse the effects of Diabetic Retinopathy – Alpha Lipoic Acid is also an essential antioxidant for eye health; it flushes out free radicals, ensuring a healthy blood supply to the eyes, whilst reducing vision impairment.
