‘ADS’ Annual Santa Fun Run 2017 was a HUGE success…

Wednesday 6 December, 2017

“Tell everyone you know about this wonderful local charity,” said Our Prime Minister
The Rt.Hon. Theresa May MP, as a part of her speech ahead of the 5th running of Alzheimers Dementia Support (‘ADS’) Annual Santa Fun Run on Sunday 26th
November Immediately prior to commencing the countdown to start the run, Theresa
May joined the participants in their ‘warm-up’ session. Thereafter, in excess of 500
runners, competitive and casual (this years’ winner finished in a time of 18 minutes
48 seconds – whew!!), walkers, babes in buggies, folks in wheelchairs and dogs, all
dressed as ‘Santa’ took to the 5 km track around Eton Dorney Lake (the home of the
Olympic rowing events).

Our Prime Minister also added this personal quote: “I want to thank everyone who
went out in the cold weather to run for Alzheimers Dementia Support, which is such
an important cause. I also want to pay tribute to David and Christine for all the work
they’ve done over many years – leading the way in helping to support people, their
Carers and Families in the area”.

As David Jannetta (‘ADS’ Voluntary Chairman and MD) explained to the crowd, all funds
raised at this, the Charity’s biggest fundraising and Awareness Raising event of the
year, will go towards supporting those LOCAL people living with Dementia, their Carers
and family’s and he thanked everyone for their superb support and generosity.

The magnificent weather, (cold, crisp and sunny) added to the success of the
occasion as those who took part later told of the laughter and camaraderie, which
was in abundant supply throughout the 5 km course.
15 young RAF Cadets from Maidenhead squadron were amongst the team of 70+
volunteers who worked tirelessly before, during and after the event, helping to ensure
all went ‘without a hitch’.

Once over, ‘ADS’ Patron Sue Holderness presented the Prizes, David Jannetta then
specifically thanked the hard working team of staff and volunteers, who had been
planning, organising and arranging the execution of the event for many months, and
he said, “Despite the fact that the event has taken a huge amount of your hard-work,
dedication and organisation – it was worth all of the effort”. He thereafter confirmed
that ‘ADS’ will host, with their help, the event again on Sunday 25th November
2018
and asked them kindly to put the date into their diary.
