Stage One is delighted to have been commissioned to design, engineer and operate a scenery and performer flying system that will take centre stage at the 2016 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Rio this evening.
The Ceremony takes place at the Maracana Stadium and promises to be a vibrant and energetic show. Comparisons with London 2012 are inevitable, not least because like Danny Boyle, Fernando Meirelles, the ceremony's Creative Director is also a Film Director of note. However with an entirely different budget tonight's ceremony is likely to ignore precedent and create its own moments for the world to remember.
Stage One has installed a steel wire catenary above the stadium which will allow the aerial choreography of performers and scenery during the show. All of the hardware and software engineering for this aerial system has been designed, manufactured and installed by Stage One.
