Wrexham lady pulls out all the stops in big fundraising drive for Pancreatic Cancer Action

Monday 13 January, 2014

Jo Nicolson from Coedpoeth in Wrexham will cycle over 300 miles charity ride and hold a fundraising party in memory of her father who passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jo, who will be cycling from the Heart of London to Eiffel Tower, will be raising money for the charity, Pancreatic Cancer Action, in April said: “Having lost my Dad to the disease in March of this year after being diagnosed only 12 weeks earlier, I wanted to raise for money for a charity focussed on improving early diagnosis.

“I am all too aware of the importance of early diagnosis. His bravery and determination to fight the disease until the very end is my inspiration for getting on a bicycle for the first time in 12 years!”

Jo is also holding a fundraising night on 18th January 2014 at Brymbo Sports and Social Club. There will be entertainment provided by the Brymbo Male Choir, an auction, raffle, buffet and disco. The top raffle prize is a Villa in Portugal for a week. Tickets are only £5 and can be purchased on the door from 7pm on the night.

Currently only 3% of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive beyond five years. Pancreatic Cancer Action is committed to working towards earlier diagnosis of the disease so that surgery, currently the only cure, is made available to the sufferer.

Ali Stunt, Founder of Pancreatic Cancer Action, said: “We are delighted that Jo is giving her time to support Pancreatic Cancer Action.

”As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Jo to help us continue our vital work. Please back support her in her fundraising efforts so that we can continue research into early diagnosis and raise awareness of pancreatic cancer.
