Walk, run, ride for charity

Wednesday 23 August, 2017

Staff at Coastline Housing in Cornwall teamed up with friends, family, ponies and dogs to take part in a walk, run, ride event that raised £870 for Penhaligon’s Friends.

Colleagues, friends and family gathered to travel along the mineral tramway from Scorrier to Portreath on foot, bikes, scooters and even ponies.

The money was raised thanks to sponsorship and donations from individuals and companies who wanted to help the team on their way. A donation of freshly cooked pasties from the Portreath Arms, where the event concluded, was also greatly appreciated by all participants.

Penhaligon’s Friends was chosen by Coastline staff as the company’s charity of the year due to the excellent help they gave to the family of a colleague who sadly died suddenly and unexpectedly three years ago.

The charity is based in Redruth and offers support across Cornwall to children and young people who have suffered a bereavement.

David Wingham, Director of Corporate Services at Coastline Housing, said: “I’m delighted we were able to raise this money for a fantastic local charity that is very close to the hearts of people here. Penhaligon’s Friends has offered invaluable support to a number of colleagues across Coastline in the past, so we are proud to do what we can to support them in return.”
